NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang explained in a podcast with Joe Rogan that no one can predict with certainty the future that artificial intelligence technologies will create for humanity. While highlighting the uncertainty surrounding AI’s global impact, Huang emphasized that this doesn’t equate to the doomsday scenarios often seen in popular culture.
Artificial Intelligence Could Change Everything
Huang likened the current global competition in AI to both a “technological sprint” and the “Manhattan Project” of the Cold War.

He reminded everyone that major technological advances throughout history have always led to the emergence of new global power balances. When asked about renowned entrepreneur Elon Musk’s negative comments about AI, Huang avoided a direct answer. However, he clearly stated that he did not believe AI would pose a sudden, devastating threat.
The rapidly increasing energy demand of AI was also a key topic of discussion in the interview. Huang confirmed that the need for data centers for AI is growing rapidly, and this is a serious concern.
He said that major tech companies are exploring the idea of building solar-powered data centers in space. He predicted that leading AI companies could consider building their own nuclear power plants within the next seven years to meet their growing energy needs.
