Hardware details for Nintendo’s long-awaited new game console Switch 2 have begun to emerge. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that the chip at the heart of the new generation Switch is “the most special chip they have ever designed” and said that the device offers a technical leap in the world of mobile hardware.
Nvidia CEO could not praise Nintendo Switch 2 enough
Huang stated in his statement that this chip brings together three basic innovations. The first is that the device has full hardware ray tracing and HDR support. This feature allows for an image quality never seen before in a portable game console.
The second innovation is related to special cores supported by artificial intelligence. These cores perform tasks such as sharpening images during gameplay, improving animations and increasing overall visual quality in real time. This provides a smoother visual experience in games, while new hardware-based optimization opportunities are provided for developers.
The third major feature is that all this advanced performance is offered with ultra-low power consumption. Nvidia’s new generation Tegra platform aims to establish the ideal balance between high-level performance and energy efficiency in handheld devices.
In previous leaks, it was stated that the Switch 2’s processor is a chip codenamed Tegra T239. It was stated that the performance level of this chip theoretically reaches up to GTX 1050 Ti levels. However, with the latest statement; it has become certain that the device will offer not only raw power, but also strong performance in terms of ray tracing, DLSS and artificial intelligence.
