Nvidia is offering a special gift to its users ahead of CES 2025. Five classic GeForce graphics cards signed by Nvidia Founder and CEO Jensen Huang will be raffled off. The tech giant will give away collectibles in a social media campaign.
Classic GeForce graphics cards will be given away
The first two graphics cards to be gifted are the iconic GeForce 256 and GeForce 8800 Ultra. Both graphics cards are displayed in black boxes with Huang’s gold signature on the bottom right corner of the box.
Launched in 1999, the GeForce 256 was Nvidia’s first GeForce graphics card and the first to bear the name “GPU”. With 23 million transistors, it marked a major shift in graphics cards. The GeForce 256 introduced features like Transform and Lighting Engine, which took over 3D rendering tasks from the CPU.
The GeForce 8800 Ultra, released in 2007, was Nvidia’s first model based on the G80 Tesla architecture. It was also the first graphics card to support CUDA, the GPU computing technology. CUDA enables GPUs to be used as parallel processing units, far beyond their role in graphics acceleration.
“These two graphics cards represent important moments in Nvidia’s history. The GeForce 256 ushered in the modern GPU era, while the 8800 Ultra ushered in the era of CUDA and general-purpose GPU computing.”
To enter the sweepstakes, users can simply comment on “GeForceGreats” social media posts featuring the two classic graphics cards.
