Nvidia and MediaTek are working together on a new generation APU (accelerated processing unit) for gaming laptops. The information that emerged suggests that the collaboration is targeting portable computers rather than desktop systems. The new APU is planned to be launched under Dell’s gaming brand Alienware.
Nvidia to collaborate with MediaTek for gaming laptops
It was reported that the chip in question has an ARM-based architecture and uses Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture on the graphics side. It was shared that the performance of the integrated GPU will be close to the level of the RTX 4070, which is positioned in the mobile class.

Nvidia’s special software solutions such as DLSS are also integrated into the platform. This allows the APU to take a strong position in both raw performance and AI-supported image enhancement.
It was stated that the new hardware has a TDP value between 65W and 80W. This value means that AMD has the potential to offer similar performance with lower power consumption than the Strix Halo series with a TDP of 120W. The efficiency-focused design combines MediaTek’s experience in mobile chips with Nvidia’s graphics power.
The chip is expected to be used in laptops under the Alienware brand at first. However, it may also be adapted to handheld consoles and similar portable systems in the future. How this new platform will respond to AMD, which already has a strong position in the mobile APU market, will become clear in the coming period.
