The highly anticipated Nvidia RTX 50 SUPER series, in the computer hardware world, has faced an unexpected and serious supply crisis. According to recent reports, the growing DRAM and NAND crisis, particularly the supply shortage of 3GB GDDR7 memory modules, may have led to the cancellation or indefinite delay of the new RTX 50 SUPER graphics cards.
Nvidia RTX 50 SUPER series may be shelved
This critical development has thrown into doubt the potential release of high-performance models such as the RTX 5070 SUPER, RTX 5070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 5080 SUPER, which have been on the radar of tech enthusiasts for some time.

According to details leaked by UNIKO’s Hardware, the supply of these 3GB GDDR7 memory modules is so limited that they are intended for use only in laptops and professional GPUs.
This poses a significant obstacle to NVIDIA’s planned SUPER models for the desktop segment, as these cards were expected to use the same chipsets.
Previous plans included 18GB of VRAM for the RTX 5070 SUPER and 24GB for the RTX 5070 Ti SUPER and RTX 5080 SUPER. However, this major disruption in 3GB GDDR7 supply has halted all these ambitious plans for now.
Meanwhile, industry sources indicate that production of 2GB GDDR7 memory modules is continuing, but they also point out that their costs are rapidly escalating.
This cost increase could lead to a rise in the retail prices of existing RTX 50-series graphics cards in the short term. It remains unclear whether NVIDIA will revisit its SUPER models with a different memory configuration following the cancellation or postponement.
