Microsoft has finally announced the requirements for Bluetooth LE Audio support for Windows 11 users. Last May, the next-generation audio technology introduced with version 22H2 confused users who wanted to check device compatibility. Accordingly, the company shared all the details for Bluetooth LE.
Windows 11 gains Bluetooth LE Audio support
The tech giant has published a requirements page to help users understand Bluetooth LE Audio compatibility. According to this post, to take advantage of Bluetooth LE Audio, both the Windows 11 device and the headset/speaker must support this technology.
Key criteria that devices must meet include being running 22H2 or later, having Bluetooth LE support and audio codecs, and having LE Audio-enabled drivers.
To check the compatibility of their devices, users can go to the ‘Devices’ section in Windows 11 settings and review the ‘Device Settings’ heading. If the Bluetooth LE Audio toggle switch is present in this section and can be activated, the device supports Bluetooth LE Audio.
Microsoft has stated that Bluetooth LE Audio is not supported on older versions of Windows, such as 21H2. The company added that some Windows 11 devices that do not support LE Audio may gain the feature in the future through driver updates released by hardware manufacturers.
