Olight has just unveiled the Marauder Mini 2, an upgraded version of its chunky high-performance flashlight. While its size remains closer to a compact baton than a true “mini,” this new model delivers more power, fresh charging options, and added lighting versatility for serious flashlight users.
Marauder Mini 2 boosts performance and adds USB-C
The Marauder Mini 2 builds on its predecessor’s form factor and keeps the hefty feel intact. But Olight has packed in new tech, including a USB-C port alongside its familiar magnetic MCC charger, giving users more flexibility when recharging its massive 32650 battery. The flashlight still supports Olight’s charging docks like the Ostation 2 Pro, though it weighs over 16 oz, making the magnetic connection too weak to hold it upright securely.
Olight also claims a 20% performance boost, pushing the total output higher across the board.
Four light sources, extreme output options
Where the Mini 2 stands out is its unique multi-LED setup. The flashlight includes:
- A 12-LED ring: ten white LEDs (floodlight, 0.5 to 10,000 lumens) and two red LEDs (1 to 400 lumens)
- A central spotlight LED: focused beam reaching up to 820 yards (1.5 to 1,350 lumens)
- A side light: useful for area lighting when the flashlight is standing upright
Depending on the combination in use, the flashlight can shift between practical EDC use and blindingly bright power.
Battery life ranges from minutes to months
Olight doesn’t shy away from the extremes. In high-output modes, the flashlight runs for just 2 to 4 minutes before automatically dimming to prevent overheating. But in lower settings, it lasts far longer:
- Side light: up to 150 days
- Floodlight or spotlight (moonlight mode): up to 95 days
- Combination modes: variable depending on use
A full breakdown is available in Olight’s manual, but it’s clear the flashlight is optimized for bursts of power, not sustained max output.
Controls built for complexity
To handle all those modes, Olight included a multi-layer control system:
- A rotary dial that doubles as the power button
- A sliding selector switch for switching between flood, spot, or combo
- A separate mode switch on the dial for toggling red and side lights
This interface might feel excessive to casual users, but it suits the flashlight’s layered design.
Marauder Mini 2’s launch details and pricing
The Marauder Mini 2 launches in black, blue, and orange, with shipping starting November 17. The retail price is $219, but a launch discount brings it down to $176. Each package includes a carrying case and a USB-C wrist strap for charging.
This isn’t an everyday flashlight; it’s a compact powerhouse built for flashlight fans who want brightness on demand and don’t mind a little extra bulk to get it.
