Samsung brings important innovations with its new interface One UI 7.0, which is expected to come with the launch of the long-awaited Galaxy S25 series. Among the changes not included in the official changelog, a recent discovery drew attention. The new software will support Ethernet speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. Here are the details
One UI 7 will support Ethernet up to 2.5 Gbps
This development was spotted by a Reddit user who compared the performance between two Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 6.1 and One UI 7.0 beta using the SABRENT USB-C to 2.5 Gbps Ethernet adapter.
According to tests performed by a user on Reddit, the Galaxy S24 Ultra with the new update showed full support for a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet connection, while the same configuration in One UI 6.1 had speed limitations or did not work properly. This finding is particularly relevant for users who prefer wired connections over Wi-Fi for stability, security or speed reasons.
While the improvement was specifically identified on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, high-speed Ethernet support is expected to be extended to other One UI 7.0 compatible devices as long as they have a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port. This port is common on the latest Galaxy smartphones and tablets and could boost adoption of this feature.
For users who prefer wired connections, the ability to achieve speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps offers a powerful alternative to Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, technologies already supported by Samsung’s high-end devices.
One UI 7.0 promises to bring support for 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, as well as a number of important improvements to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. But Samsung’s limitation of the beta program to the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra may indicate that the company is focusing its efforts on the latest devices to ensure a high-quality experience.
