The first images of Samsung’s Android-based user interface, One UI, version 8.5, have been leaked. The software is currently in development, and while the leaked version was designed for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, a developer has adapted it for the Galaxy S21+, revealing the interface’s improvements.
One UI 8.5 design revealed
The Settings menu has been tweaked, removing the callout text. This gives the menus a cleaner and more minimal look. New color gradients stand out at the top and bottom edges, and the search bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen for easier access.
The back button, used when accessing menus, is now shaded and floating. This design is similar to what Apple used in iOS 26. Drop shadows have also been added to the top and bottom edges of menu boxes. These drop shadows make the boxes appear slightly raised from the surface, giving the interface elements a more modern look.
Samsung didn’t make any major design changes in the transition from One UI 7 to 8. However, with version 8.5, it appears to have initiated a more significant transformation of the user interface. These updates are expected to extend beyond system menus and to Samsung’s built-in apps over time.
The final version of One UI 8.5 is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy S26 series, scheduled for release in early 2026. What are your thoughts on this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
