OnePlus has announced a sensational display technology for its flagship, the OnePlus 15, which it plans to unveil in China this month. The company will reveal full details of the new display at BOE’s flexible OLED flagship launch event in Shenzhen on October 14th. Ahead of this major event, OnePlus President Li Jie Louis shared important information about the display that will power the new flagship.
“Third-Generation Oriental Display” and the Era of 165Hz
According to Li Jie Louis, OnePlus has partnered with display panel manufacturer BOE to jointly develop the world’s most advanced smartphone display, dubbed the “third-generation Oriental Display.” This new panel will mark the beginning of the 165Hz ultra-refresh era in the mobile world.

This display is expected to be a 6.78-inch BOE X3 OLED panel. Offering 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, it will become the first smartphone display to reach this level globally. The new display is expected to deliver eight major technological breakthroughs and break nine world records.
OnePlus claims that the new display promises leadership in four key areas: smoothness, image quality, dark viewing experience, and eye protection. It will be the first Android display to reach 1-nit brightness at the true hardware level, particularly for low-light environments.
The display, which prioritizes user health, will also be certified by TÜV Rheinland Smart Eye Protection 5.0 Gold. OnePlus ushered in the era of high refresh rates with the introduction of 90Hz displays in 2019 with the OnePlus 7 Pro. Now, with the OnePlus 15 and BOE’s third-generation display, it aims to redefine flagship smartphone display standards once again.
