In today’s digital age, car companies and many other companies are changing their logos. Brands are starting to create simpler logos that are suitable for the digital era, abandoning three-dimensional logos and opting for two-dimensional emblems. The latest example comes from Opel.
Opel’s new logo reflects the brand’s electric future
The German car manufacturer unveiled the logo it will use starting from 2024 through a presentation. Opel, which added a new interpretation to its iconic ‘Blitz‘ (Lightning) logo, will soon start using this logo on all its models.
As the number of electric cars increases day by day, Opel’s ‘Blitz’ emblem has also taken on a more meaningful form. The new logo, symbolizing the company’s era of electromobility, will also be an important symbol during Opel’s transition to fully electric vehicles.
Unlike the previous logos, Opel’s lightning emblem is positioned horizontally and presented as a two-piece design. The new logo better conveys the perception of electricity to us. Additionally, the new lightning emblem appears to extend beyond the surrounding circle more prominently with the change in design.
Opel plans to start using its new logo alongside the vehicles coming off the production line in 2024. However, we won’t have to wait until 2024 to see the new logo on a car. Opel CEO Florian Huettl announced that they will showcase vehicles featuring the new logos at the IAA Mobility fair.
Huettl also mentioned that they have a surprise in store for this fair. The Opel CEO stated that they will present an exciting surprise but refrained from providing further details. Following this statement, we can expect an electric sports car concept from Opel at the IAA Mobility fair.
