OpenAI has announced a new feature called Pulse for its popular chat assistant, ChatGPT. Pulse, which generates personalized reports every morning based on data from users’ chat history, calendar, and connected apps, aims to transform ChatGPT from a passive chatbot into an active personal assistant.
Pulse analyzes user data overnight and presents reports in the morning in the form of five to 10 short, visual cards. These cards can include personalized content such as the day’s meeting agenda, upcoming trips, birthday reminders, sports events, diet recommendations, or current news. Users can quickly browse the cards or click on them for detailed information.
Integrated with Calendar, Email, and More
The feature connects to applications like Google Calendar, Gmail, and Google Drive using ChatGPT’s “Connections” infrastructure. This allows users to highlight important messages in emails, compile travel information, or create sample agenda suggestions for upcoming meetings.

Pulse becomes more personalized over time based on user feedback, such as likes and dislikes. Users can also direct Pulse with specific requests, such as “focus on tomorrow’s football news” or “prepare a weekly summary.”
Open AI First Available
Currently available only as a “preview version” on the mobile app for ChatGPT Pro subscribers, Pulse will be available to Plus and free users later. However, OpenAI notes that the feature requires significant processing power and will therefore be rolled out gradually.
Open AI’s Applications CEO, Fidji Simo, describes Pulse as “personal support accessible to everyone” and says that this feature aims to make ChatGPT a morning routine alternative to social media. A statement from the ChatGPT team emphasizes that Pulse avoids the “infinite scrolling” logic and offers only enough information for the day.

In the long term, Open AI aims for Pulse to not only provide reports but also take action on the user’s behalf. In this context, it is stated that functions such as making restaurant reservations, designing e-mails or offering gift suggestions may be possible in the future.
