FTC initiates an investigation into OpenAI for data security concerns regarding ChatGPT!
According to The Washington Post, the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an investigation into OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, to gather information regarding data security.
According to sources, the FTC sent a 20-page request letter to OpenAI, addressing concerns about data privacy and reputation damage. The commission requested detailed information from the company, including how the large language model was trained and the source of the data.
Furthermore, the FTC requested details from OpenAI about its efforts to prevent ChatGPT from providing inaccurate information and also requested some complaint reports from users regarding misleading information provided by the system.
Recently, OpenAI experienced a data breach where the data of some users who subscribed to the Plus membership, which allowed access to the more capable GPT-4 language model, was leaked online. This data breach included credit card information. The FTC also requested the number of affected individuals, although OpenAI stated that the number was significantly low.
