OpenAI is making a radical change to its revenue sharing agreement with Microsoft. According to the latest information, the company will reduce its payment rate to Microsoft to half of its current level by 2030.
OpenAI will reduce its payments to Microsoft
According to OpenAI’s current agreement, 20 percent of the revenues generated by 2030 will be transferred to Microsoft. However, the company’s latest statements have shown that this rate will be reduced to 10 percent. It is stated that the planned change will include not only Microsoft but also other commercial partners.

The decision in question was made within the scope of OpenAI’s restructuring process. The company announced a new structure that increased the influence of CEO Sam Altman in recent months, but stepped back from some elements of this structure.
In January, the collaboration between Microsoft and OpenAI was made more flexible. Some basic articles in the agreement were reviewed and revenue sharing was brought to a two-way structure. These arrangements were made simultaneously with the artificial intelligence data center project involving Oracle and Japanese SoftBank, which could reach up to $500 billion.
In the official statement made by OpenAI, it was stated that the cooperation with Microsoft continues and the changes in the capital structure will be clarified soon. Microsoft has not yet approved the new corporate structure proposed by OpenAI.
According to Bloomberg, the company continues to evaluate whether its interests are protected in the new structure. So what do you think about this issue? You can easily share your views with us in the comments section below.
