At a time when competition in the field of artificial intelligence is fierce, OpenAI announced its new model o3-mini to further expand its capabilities and increase accessibility. With this move, the company aims to consolidate its position in the market and reach a wider user base.
OpenAI introduces new reasoning model o3-mini
The o3-mini, introduced with the o3 system previewed last December, is the newest member of OpenAI’s “o” model family. The company characterized the new model as both powerful and affordable, indicating that it will rival DeepSeek.
Unlike standard large language models, reasoning models such as o3-mini perform detailed reality checks before presenting results. This helps models avoid common errors, but slows down response times.
Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI is preparing to introduce the Grok 3 model, which will rival OpenAI and Google.
Despite this, this balance has been established in order to obtain more reliable and accurate results, especially in areas such as programming, mathematics and science. According to OpenAI, users preferred the answers provided by o3-mini more than the previous o1-mini model.
It was stated that the new model made 39 percent fewer errors in “real-world questions” and offered clearer answers while answering about 24 percent faster. The model will be available to all users for free. However, users with subscriptions such as Plus and Team will have a high limit of up to 150 queries per day, while Pro subscribers will enjoy unlimited access.
