OpenAI has announced that the number of users subscribed to the enterprise versions of ChatGPT has reached 3 million. The company stated that this figure is a significant increase from the 2 million subscribers reported in February. The user base includes ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Team and ChatGPT Edu subscribers.
OpenAI expanded its ChatGPT service, which was launched for individual users at the end of 2022, with enterprise versions the following year. According to the data announced in February, the platform is used by 400 million active users per week. While the company’s revenue expectation for this year is stated as $12.7 billion, the records for 2023 include information that $3.7 billion in revenue and $5 billion in losses are predicted.
Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s chief operating officer, stated that the prevalence of ChatGPT in individual use is directly reflected in the enterprise market. Stating that ChatGPT use is increasing even in highly regulated sectors such as finance and healthcare, Lightcap explained that many institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Uber and Lowe’s, are actively using the platform.
The company also announced new features for the business versions of ChatGPT. ChatGPT Team and Enterprise users will now be able to pull data from third-party tools such as Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, Box, and OneDrive with the “connectors” feature. This can be done without leaving the ChatGPT interface. Additional connections that provide deep search functionality are currently in beta.
Another new feature announced was the “record mode”. With this feature, users can record meetings as audio and convert them into transcripts. The recordings can then be converted into documents and integrated with internal company information and documents. OpenAI’s Canvas tool also allows these recordings to be converted into documents.
Brad Lightcap said that these updates were developed directly in line with the demands of corporate customers. He stated that ChatGPT should not only be responsive, but also be able to actively take on corporate processes.
OpenAI also shared that it signs contracts with an average of nine new corporate companies every week. The company aims to continue this momentum.
