The OpenAI crisis, which caused great repercussion in the technology world in 2023, is being brought to the big screen. The film, which is being prepared under the roof of Amazon MGM and will be called “Artificial,” is about the dismissal process of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
OpenAI is on the agenda with its film project
The project, which draws attention with its structure reminiscent of The Social Network, will be shaped around Altman’s dismissal from his company and his return to his position with the support of Microsoft. The decision of the OpenAI board of directors to dismiss Altman, one of the founders of the company, was reflected in the public in the fall of 2023 and became one of the most dramatic events of recent years in Silicon Valley.

The incident changed direction in just a few days and resulted in Altman’s reinstatement. Even as these developments were taking place, there was talk that the process would one day turn into a film. Now, this idea has been made official.
It is reported that Amazon MGM is in talks with famous director Luca Guadagnino to direct the film. Guadagnino has previously made a name for himself with productions such as Call Me by Your Name and Challengers. The studio, which wants to speed up the production process, is also continuing its negotiations for the cast.
According to information provided by The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Garfield has been contacted for the role of Sam Altman in the film, Monica Barbaro for OpenAI’s former CTO Mira Murati, and Yura Borisov for co-founder Ilya Sutskever, who led Altman’s dismissal.
The film’s release date has not yet been announced, but it is likely to be released in the first half of 2026. So what do you think about this project? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
