Norway-based browser developer Opera has officially introduced Opera Neon, a fully autonomous web browser designed to redefine the role of browsers in the AI-powered next-generation web landscape. Following years of development, Opera Neon stands out with its ability to understand user intentions and independently carry out tasks across the web.
Opera Neon goes beyond traditional browsing by integrating an AI engine capable of interpreting user input and turning it into action. It allows users to not only consume content but also delegate research, creation, and routine online tasks to the browser itself.

Henrik Lexow, Opera’s Senior Director of AI Products, stated during the announcement that artificial intelligence is reshaping how people interact with the internet and accomplish tasks within the browser. He described Opera Neon as a collaborative platform where users and developers can shape the future of autonomous browsers together.
The browser features several new AI-driven tools. The built-in “Chat” assistant allows users to engage in conversations, search the web, and receive context-aware, trustworthy answers related to the page they are browsing. The “Do” feature automates routine web activities such as filling out forms, booking hotels, and online shopping, all executed locally to ensure privacy and security.

Another highlight is the early-access “Make” feature, which understands the user’s intent and creates content accordingly—whether it’s a report, a game, a piece of code, or a full website. Opera Neon also leverages cloud-based virtual AI agents, which continue content generation even while the user is offline.
Opera Neon supports simultaneous task execution through agentic multitasking. Users can request multiple content items at once, and the browser handles them autonomously, enhancing productivity.

Opera Neon is offered through a premium subscription model. Early access is currently available, and interested users can join the waiting list via Opera’s official website: https://www.operaneon.com/
