Oppo has confirmed that it will officially announce its highly anticipated new operating system, ColorOS 16, at a launch event in Shenzhen on October 15, 2025. According to the company’s official website, Oppo’s annual Developer Conference (ODC) will also be held concurrently with the launch. Here are the details.
ColorOS 16 will be focused on AI
At this event, Oppo will showcase its latest AI strategy and provide attendees with comprehensive information about ColorOS 16. The company states that the conference will include ten sub-forums, six exhibition areas, and even an “inspiration street.” This rich content will give developers and tech enthusiasts a chance to get a closer look at Oppo’s software and design vision.

Oppo’s official website also shared a first look at the design direction of ColorOS 16. It appears the new interface is inspired by the liquid glass design language of iOS 26. This design language has drawn criticism from Apple users due to readability issues, and it’s curious how Oppo will respond to this issue.
As anticipated, the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro will be the first devices to ship with ColorOS 16 out of the box. These new phones are also among the first to feature the Dimensity 9500 chipset. Another new feature is the world’s first “1-nit display” for next-generation eye protection.
Oppo uses its in-house developed P3 display chip to enhance the visual experience. The display boasts features such as flicker-free operation, 3840Hz PWM dimming, a default eye-safe color temperature of 6900K, and is also TÜV Rheinland and SGS certified.
The phones are expected to launch in China on October 16 and globally on October 28.
