The success of horror movie classics in the gaming industry is resulting in more and more horror movie franchises becoming game adaptations. For example, big horror classics such as Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blair Witch Project have been adapted into games. Paranormal Activity is now joining this trend.
Paranormal Activity game adaptation is coming
According to Variety, Paranormal Activity is also being adapted into a game. Developer Brian Clarke is developing the game with his studio DarkStone Digital. Clarke was behind the successful indie horror game The Mortuary Assistant, which came out in 2022.
DreadXP is publishing and the game is scheduled for release in 2026. According to both DreadXP and Paramount Global, the game will be an exciting story that will bring the series’ surveillance style to players in a different way.
While platforms have yet to be confirmed, the game will be available on multiple platforms and will utilize an advanced version of The Mortuary Assistant called “Haunt System”. This system will dynamically change the types and intensity of scares players will encounter depending on their actions.
Clarke, the game’s developer, explains the Paranormal Activity game adaptation as follows: “If you found The Mortuary Assistant scary, we’re taking what we learned during the game development process and beefing it up with a more reactive and terrifying system. It’s going to be heavy, just so you know.”
You can watch the trailer for the game above, but there’s not much in the trailer, it’s more of an announcement. What do you think about the Paranormal Activity game adaptation? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
