Ana sayfa / Technology

The global PC sales report for the second quarter of 2023 showed that all but one manufacturer shrank. Brands such as Lenovo, Dell and Acer saw double-digit declines, while Apple saw double-digit growth. Apple’s market share rose above 5% for the first time in a long time.

Global PC sales down 13% while Apple up 10%

The International Data Corporation (IDC) has published global PC sales for the April-June period of this year. This represents a significant decline in the market compared to last year. However, it was reported that the decline was less than in the first quarter of this year.

In the second quarter of 2023, global computer shipments fell by 13.4 per cent year on year. This shows an increase in sales compared to the 29 per cent contraction seen in the first quarter of this year. However, it should be remembered that computer sales have been falling for six consecutive quarters.

Apple will be forced to rely on Samsung for MacBook screens!

Samsung is planning to produce advanced OLED display panels for the MacBook Pro screens until 2025. Here are the details:

Despite the decline in shipments, Lenovo remained the largest brand with 14 million PCs sold. HP was a close second with 13 million units shipped. In third place was Dell with 10 million units shipped.

Apple was the most notable brand in the second quarter with 5.3 million units shipped and 10.3 per cent year-on-year growth. It was reported that Apple’s growth was driven by overcoming production issues and price cuts.

The decline in PC shipments shows that the market still faces significant challenges. However, with the expansion of gaming and business, sales are expected to pick up again.
