Google’s new flagship phones, the Pixel 10 series, have received initial feedback from users. Issues with wireless charging are particularly noteworthy, and this is disappointing for those considering purchasing the phone.
Pixel 10 series experiencing wireless charging issues
The phones have reached some users earlier. According to posts on Reddit, the Pixel 10, Pro, and XL models are experiencing wireless charging issues. Users report that the phone sometimes starts charging, but then stops charging after a few seconds or minutes. In some cases, charging speeds drop to as low as 5W.

This issue stems from the Pixel 10 series’ switch to Qi2 wireless charging technology. Google’s new phones use MPP (Magnetic Power Profile) instead of EPP (Extended Power Profile) for power transfer. While both profiles theoretically support up to 15W, MPP’s magnetic alignment requirement causes incompatibility with older wireless charging accessories.
There’s no specific speed limit for non-Qi2 chargers for the Pixel 10 in the WPC database. Therefore, the most reliable way to resolve this issue is to use a Qi2-certified charger. There are many charging stands available on the market that meet this standard.
Pixel 10 users can continue using their older Qi charging stands. However, they should be aware that they will experience occasional charging interruptions. This issue is not a software fix.
