Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has lost an executive in recent months. After Jim Ryan stepped down in the summer, the future of PlayStation games was uncertain. But according to interim SIE President Hiroki Totoki, Sony is making a big change to PlayStation games.
Which PlayStation games will be coming to PC?
Hiroki Totoki, who previously served as Sony’s Chief Financial Officer, became interim head of SIE four months ago. During that time, he identified operating profit as a key issue. He said PlayStation lacked “a deep understanding of how its business translates into growth, sustainable profits and higher margins”.
To solve this problem, Totoki doesn’t think it makes sense to sell PlayStation exclusive games only on the console. In this context, there will be an increase in the number of PlayStation games coming to PC. Important Sony games; It wants to be published on other platforms, including PC.
“In the past, we wanted to popularize the console, and the main purpose of first-party games was to popularize the PlayStation console. That was true, but we need to change that.”
Releasing major PlayStation titles like God of War, Uncharted and Horizon on other platforms could boost revenue from those games without additional costs. According to Totoki, the multiplatform strategy will improve the company’s operating profit in the long run.
There is no word yet on which games Sony will bring to PC. But we expect popular PS5 titles to come to PC in the near future, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
