Sony is giving PlayStation trophies more value and it’s doing it with real-world rewards. The company has just launched Franchise Rewards, a new initiative that lets players unlock exclusive products by earning in-game trophies.
PlayStation trophies now lead to real-life collectibles

The program kicks off with Ghost of Tsushima. Players who unlock either the Mono No Aware or Living Legend trophy will gain access to the Ghost Rewards store.
At launch, only two items are available:
- A collectible Jin Sakai mask pin
- A T-shirt featuring a map of Tsushima
While that may seem limited, the goal is to grow the rewards over time. Unlike typical merch drops, access is gated by gameplay, which adds a sense of exclusivity.
Ghost of Yotei joins the rewards lineup later this year
Looking ahead, Sony has confirmed that Ghost of Yotei will join the program before the year ends. This expansion shows that the rewards won’t be limited to just one title. It also hints at a broader shift toward game-linked merchandise.
Could Franchise Rewards replace PlayStation Stars?
Sony hasn’t officially said that Franchise Rewards will replace PlayStation Stars, but the timing raises questions. The sudden shutdown of PlayStation Stars upset many fans, especially those who invested time into unlocking digital perks.
Now, Sony may be steering toward something more tangible. Unlike Stars, this new program connects physical items to actual gameplay milestones. That could make PlayStation trophies feel more meaningful, especially if more games follow suit.
A new reason to chase PlayStation trophies
For years, trophies were just virtual badges. Now, they might actually be worth something you can hold. If this program grows, it could turn trophy hunting into something more rewarding, literally.
So far, it’s a small start. Even so, the idea has serious potential to reshape how players engage with achievements.
