Batman: Arkham, one of the most iconic franchises in the superhero world, is set to return with a new game. However, this game will not be released for console or PC as many people expect, but for virtual reality headsets. The trailer for the Meta Quest 3 exclusive VR game Batman: Arkham Shadow has been released.
Batman: Arkham Shadow trailer released
Warner Bros and Meta have joined forces for a new VR game scheduled for release in late 2024. The game will bring the iconic Batman: Arkham franchise to VR headsets and will be developed by Camouflaj, known for titles like Iron Man VR.
Arkham Shadow will allow players to take down Gotham City as Batman. Gotham, with a new danger, looks quite bleak in the trailer. Details about the characters in the game are still unclear. However, the trailer shows that it will offer a full virtual reality experience.
Arkham Shadow will continue the story that Rocksteady Studios covered in Batman: Arkham Asylum, City and Knight between 2011 and 2015. However, Rocksteady is not directly involved in the new VR game.
Arkham Shadow’s place in the series’ timeline is unknown. The previous VR game, Batman: Arkham VR, released in 2016, focused on the story between City and Knight. Arkham Shadow could follow a similar approach or take the story beyond Knight.
Developer Camouflaj has made acclaimed VR games in recent years, including Iron Man VR and Republique VR. In this context, he said that he will take his experience forward with Arkham Shadow. All details about the game will be announced at Summer Game Fest 2024 in June.
