Xbox Game Studios CEO Phil Spencer has made statements regarding whether a more powerful Xbox model will be released. While rumors about the PS5 Pro have been circulating lately, the performance of the Series X has fueled the discussions. So, will Microsoft release a console more powerful than the Series X?
Microsoft doesn’t need more powerful console than Xbox Series X
Phil Spencer stated that Microsoft does not currently feel the need for a new console. Unlike PlayStation, Microsoft has two versions (Series X and S) in the current generation of consoles and seems satisfied with the power of the Series X.
The Xbox Series X and S were released in late 2020 and are approaching their third year in the market. In comparison, the Xbox One series received updates within three and a half years, with the release of the Xbox One X. The Xbox One X stood out with its 4K resolution, which is one of the key features of the Series X.
Microsoft did announce a new console at the Xbox Games Showcase, but it was different from expectations. The carbon black Xbox Series S, with 1TB of storage, will be available to players very soon. The new console, which doubles the 512GB storage, is reported to be priced at $349.
The Xbox Series X is one of the most powerful consoles in the gaming world. It is powered by an 8-core AMD processor running at 3.8 GHz, compared to the PS5’s 3.5 GHz processor. The console features an AMD RDNA 2 GPU named Scarlett and offers 24.29 TFLOPS of performance with 10 GB VRAM.
However, the Series X has some limitations when it comes to playing games at 4K resolution and 60 FPS. For example, it has been reported that games like Redfall and Starfield will be locked at 30 FPS. Considering that there won’t be a new console in the near future, we might see some improvements on the Series X.
