Huawei is preparing to expand its MatePad lineup with a new high-end tablet. Unlike the company’s previous premium MatePad models, this device will stand out with its compact design. Recent leaks suggest that the brand’s small-sized flagship tablet will be unveiled soon.
Huawei is coming with an 8.8-inch compact tablet
According to reports, while Huawei continues to develop the second-generation triple-foldable Mate XT, it is also working on a compact MatePad featuring an 8.8-inch OLED display with slim bezels. The tablet has already appeared in network certification, confirming 5G connectivity.

The device is expected to be powered by an N-1 Kirin 9 series chipset, with the Kirin 9030 being the most likely candidate. Consistent with earlier leaks, the new MatePad is tipped to launch on September 4, 2025, alongside the FreeClip 2.
Huawei’s compact MatePad will directly compete with rivals such as the Redmi K Pad, Lenovo Legion Y700, and Red Magic Astra. It is said to come in green, white, and black color options. For now, these are the only details available about the upcoming device.
