An important session took place at the Computex 2025 fair that started today in Taiwan. The company’s CEO Cristiano Amon attended the event organized by Qualcomm and shared the latest status of the Snapdragon X Elite platform on stage. Amon, who provided important information about the future of Windows-based laptops, also gave a remarkable answer to the question posed by ShiftDelete.Net founder Hakkı Alkan.
In the special session held after the event, Hakkı Alkan asked Cristiano Amon whether Qualcomm processors will be used in robots that will be released in the coming years. Qualcomm CEO responded to this question by saying, “I loved it” and made a detailed explanation.
Amon said that Qualcomm’s core business is mobile devices, but it is now moving beyond these boundaries. He cited the automotive sector as the first example of this expansion. According to Amon, a car is technically considered a mobile device because it is a platform that is not plugged in, has high processing power and requires energy efficiency. With this understanding, Qualcomm has entered the PC market with the Snapdragon X Elite platform.
It was clearly stated that robots are also included in Qualcomm’s future plans with the same logic. Amon emphasized that a robot is a mobile device that is not connected to a cable, works with a battery and is constantly working, by its nature.
He stated that just like smartphones, laptops and electric cars, high processing power and long battery life are expected in robots. Therefore, he said that Qualcomm will be actively involved in the field of robotics.
Amon stated that the company is currently conducting industrial activities in the robotics sector and is collaborating with many companies, and that this area will become a major market item for Qualcomm in the coming period. He defined robotics as an area with the potential to surpass the success achieved in the automobile sector.
Amon also stated that Qualcomm’s DNA has always included mobility and cloud connectivity, which is why they can offer strong solutions in areas that require uninterrupted connectivity and energy efficiency, such as robotics. At Computex 2025, where unplugged, always-connected, high-processing devices shape the future, Qualcomm’s strategy in this area was also clarified.
