With the advancements in technology, investments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) have also significantly increased. As a result, there has been a proliferation of AI tools in recent years. While OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard stand out among them, companies like Meta are also working on developing rival applications.

AI tools, which have become pervasive in almost every aspect of our lives, will soon start to come pre-installed on smartphones as well. In fact, an agreement has been made between Meta, the owner of Facebook, and the semiconductor giant Qualcomm for this purpose.

The two powerhouse companies, in their announcement today, revealed that Meta’s language model, Llama 2, will be integrated into Qualcomm’s chipsets starting from 2024. This means that smartphones and computers with Qualcomm chips at their core will be able to perform AI tasks more efficiently.

Trained on a large dataset of text and code, this AI model can be used for tasks such as text generation, translation, question answering, and language inference. Consequently, Llama 2 can provide users with more accurate suggestions, effectively turning the phone into an AI-powered device.

It is worth noting that Meta’s Llama is open-source, unlike ChatGPT and Bard. This means that software developers can use the language model without requiring any permission. Of course, this will lead to the emergence of new tools and applications.
