Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, is preparing to raise the performance bar in an unexpected way with its upcoming flagship killer, the Redmi K90. The new phone, spotted on the popular performance benchmarking platform GeekBench, comes with significantly more powerful hardware than its predecessor. Here are the details.
Redmi K90 Comes with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The Redmi K90, model number 2510DRK44C, achieved remarkable scores in GeekBench tests. The device achieved a significant performance boost, achieving 3080 points in the single-core and 9382 points in the multi-core test. These high scores are driven by Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The fact that the tested model is paired with 16GB of RAM is another key factor in this performance.

What makes this leak particularly striking is the Redmi K90’s processor choice. Considering that the previous Redmi K80 model launched with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the new model’s move to the next-level Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 represents a significant performance leap for the standard K series.
The device is expected to run Android 16 out of the box. This means it will likely include Xiaomi’s proprietary interface, HyperOS 3. Other information leaked so far about the Redmi K90 also supports its performance beast:
- Battery and Charging: A large 7,100 mAh battery and support for 100W wired fast charging.
- Display: A 6.59-inch flat RGB OLED LTPS display with 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Security and Design: A 3D ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner, a premium metal frame, dual stereo speakers, and an X-axis linear motor with enhanced vibration feedback are expected for security.
Considering that Xiaomi launched the K80 series in November 2024, the Redmi K90 series is expected to have a similar launch schedule, meaning an announcement towards the end of 2025.
