While not the first game that comes to mind when thinking of Sony PlayStation, Until Dawn stands out for its story-driven decisions and multiple endings. It was also released for PC in recent years. Sony and Ballistic Moon have now revealed the official release date and a promotional video for the game’s remake.
Until Dawn will be available on October 4, 2024!
According to Sony’s official announcement and promotional video, the remake will be released simultaneously for both PlayStation 5 and PC. This marks a milestone as Until Dawn Remake will be the first Sony game to launch on both platforms on the same day.
Ballistic Moon, the developer, has stated that the remake aims to provide a more cinematic and immersive experience with advanced visuals, rather than altering the game’s storyline. Created from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5, Until Dawn will feature updated character models, environments, interactive elements, visual effects, animations, and artistic changes to create a more atmospheric horror story.
The most significant change players can expect is a reworked opening sequence with adjusted narrative pacing to introduce certain characters more thoroughly. Additionally, new collectible items called Hunger Totems will add extra context and detail to the Until Dawn universe, along with a range of accessibility options, including image filters.
October is shaping up to be a competitive month for horror game remakes, with Until Dawn set to release just a few days before Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake, which is scheduled for October 8.
