MediaTek has officially set the launch date for its flagship mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9500. According to recent reports, the processor will be unveiled on September 22. Coincidentally, Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will make its debut just one day later, on September 23. This sets the stage for fierce competition in the mobile chipset market next month.

Both chips will be manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm “N3P” process technology, which promises significant improvements in both performance and power efficiency.
The Dimensity 9500 will move away from the “1 + 3 + 4” core configuration found in the Dimensity 9400 and 9400+ series, opting instead for a “2 + 6” arrangement. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 features a custom CPU core design, MediaTek will stick with ARM’s standard CPU and GPU architectures.
In terms of performance, the Dimensity 9500’s high-performance cores can reach speeds of 4.00 GHz. While this marks an improvement over the previous generation, it still falls short of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2’s 4.74 GHz peak clock speed. On the graphics side, the chip will feature the same 12-core Mali-G1 Ultra GPU as its predecessor.
