Continuing to push the boundaries in electric vehicle technologies, Renault introduced its new prototype Filante Record 2025, which it describes as a ‘walking laboratory’.Developed in collaboration with Ligier Automotive, this special vehicle focuses on breaking range records rather than speed records. The prototype, which resembles Batman’s legendary Batmobile in terms of design, has a highly aerodynamic body.Measuring 5.12 metres in length, 1.71 metres in width and 1.19 metres in height, the single-seater car is inspired by Renault’s past prototypes that were designed to break speed records.
The vehicle, which is still designed entirely with digital simulations, will be tested in the wind tunnel in the future and will be subjected to final aerodynamic improvements.
Renault to break range record with new generation electric vehicle
The prototype’s design is characterised by round LED headlights, a fin-shaped tail section and fenders shaped independently from the body. The design, especially around the fenders and wheels, was developed to minimise air friction.
It is stated that Michelin’s special tyres with low rolling resistance increase the range by 20%.One of the most important features of the vehicle is the use of ultra-light materials.Glowing proteins are found in nature in some marine organisms such as jellyfish and corals, and scientists use such proteins as microscopic biomarkers. The development of esmGFP has important potential in biological sciences as well as in medicine and environmental sciences.
In this way, the total weight of the vehicle is kept at only 1000 kilograms, 600 kilograms of which are reserved for the battery pack.
