It looks like we won’t have to wait too long for the next installment of Capcom’s popular horror series Resident Evil. At least according to the latest leaks from Dusk Golem, previously known for leaking Silent Hill: The Short Message. He also leaked Resident Evil 9 gameplay mechanics.
Resident Evil 9 could be released in January 2025
On platform X, Dusk Golem claims that Resident Evil 9 is coming out in 2025 and will be announced soon. “If what I’ve heard before is true, the release should be in January,” the leaker wrote. While not yet officially confirmed, Capcom’s release cycle for Resident Evil games has been pretty regular.
After releasing Resident Evil 7 in 2017, Capcom has since released four major games every two years, either sequels or remakes. The most recent one, as you know, was last year’s Resident Evil 4 remake. The years 2018, 2022 and 2024 are the years when Capcom doesn’t release a main series game.
Dusk Golem claims that Resident Evil 9 originally began development in 2018 around the same time that Village entered development. Both games could potentially have been Resident Evil 8, with Village eventually becoming a reality, while Resident Evil 9 continued in development.
If the claim is true, Resident Eil 9 will be the game with the longest development time in the series. The leaker also claims that the game will have the biggest budget in the series.
In previous leaks, Dusk Golem claimed that RE9 could potentially be an open-world game. On a side note, fans of the series want Resident Evil 9 not to be in the FPS genre. What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
