Months of leaks and theories finally got their answer at The Game Awards 2025. Capcom shared the first official trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, the highly anticipated ninth installment in their survival horror series. The most striking moment of the video was the confirmation that the series’ iconic character, Leon S. Kennedy, will be central to the story.
Years have changed Leon: Here’s his new look
Leon, who won the hearts of players with Resident Evil 2 and 4, appears with an older and more weathered face in the new game. The trailer shown during the ceremony introduced not only Leon but also the game’s new main villain, Dr. Gideon. The short gameplay clips at the end of the video revealed that the series will again focus on bloody and “instinctive” (visceral) combat dynamics.
The game’s release is very close. Capcom announced that Resident Evil Requiem will be on shelves on February 27, 2026. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2.
Players are eagerly awaiting the terrifying enemies that Leon and Grace, another expected playable character, will face. Praised for its atmosphere in the Gamescom 2025 demos, the game is preparing to offer horror fans a new adventure in February.
So, what do you think of Leon’s appearance years later and the released Resident Evil Requiem trailer? Did it meet your expectations? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
