Riot Games’ highly anticipated fighting game 2XKO was introduced with new details in a live stream at the Evo 2024 event. During the panel with Tom Cannon and Shaun Rivera, important explanations were made about the game’s monetization model. It was stated that Riot Games fighting game 2XKO will be free-to-play and players will be able to earn all characters in-game.
How will Riot Games fighting game 2XKO’s in-game purchase model work?
Riot Games’ new fighting game 2XKO offers players the opportunity to become the best player without having to buy characters. “You don’t have to spend a dime to become the best player in the world!” said Tom Cannon at Evo 2024. Cannon noted that all fighters can be earned in-game, but added that it will take some effort.
Explaining more about the monetization model, Cannon said that Riot Games will sell high-quality merchandise. For example, stickers with emotes of various champions and skins will be offered. The Dynasty Ahri skin shown at the panel was introduced as part of this new model. Cannon noted that this skin has been modified in terms of model and visual effects (VFX), and all skins will offer nine different color options (chroma).
This Ahri skin will be available during the game’s initial alpha playtest and through the battle pass. This in-game purchase system is very similar to League of Legends’ approach, but pricing and other details are not yet clear.
