Roblox offers a new revenue model to its players. The company announced a new ad format called ‘Rewarded Video’. These adverts will allow players to receive significant rewards such as in-game currency and power-ups in exchange for watching full-screen video adverts.

Roblox’s new ad type will last up to 30 seconds and offer additional benefits to players, making their gaming experience richer. The adverts will be sold through Google’s ad solutions and direct IO in the coming weeks.

However, only experiences that are open to the public will be able to display ads, and only players 13 and older will be able to access them. These steps are said to be taken as part of the expansion of Google’s ‘Immersive Ads’ format.
Google states that these new ad formats will be placed in harmony with in-game elements such as billboards or big screen ads. The company will integrate these ads into the game environment in a completely natural way and present them in a way that does not disturb the players.
Roblox will also begin selling other ad formats through the Google platform in the coming months. These will include virtual billboards and full-page adverts on the Roblox homepage. These changes will be the beginning of a new era of advertising in the Roblox ecosystem.
