Veho, a US-based delivery platform, has launched a new era in package transportation. The company has launched wheeled robot dogs into the field in collaboration with robotics technology firm RIVR. In the first stage of the trials, which started in Austin, the robots carry packages from the vehicle to the customer’s door.
Robot dogs start delivering packages
Veho announced that this new system will not replace human drivers, but rather has been developed as a technology that will support the delivery process. According to the company’s plan, while the human driver completes one part of the delivery, the robot will deliver another package at the same time. In this way, it is aimed to deliver more packages in a shorter time and with less physical effort.
The robots act according to the instructions given by the customer through the application during the delivery. After the package is left at the door, a photo showing that the delivery has been successfully completed is uploaded to the Veho application.
A RIVR employee closely monitors the robot throughout the trial period. This monitoring, which is carried out in terms of delivery quality and safety, allows the system to be evaluated with real field data. The robots developed by RIVR stand out with their both wheeled and four-legged structure.
This design; It enables the device to overcome various obstacles such as stairs, sidewalks, door thresholds and uneven ground. Thanks to physical artificial intelligence technology, the robot can move smoothly to the door even in complex city structures.
The use, which started with supervision, is planned to be implemented in different cities throughout the year. So what do you think about this subject? You can share your views with us in the comments section below.
