Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce RTX 5080 at CES 2025 has revealed key specs thanks to leaked retail packaging. MSI’s Gaming Trio showcases the graphics card design and confirms important technical details such as VRAM capacity and bus width. Details in our news…
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 packaging and features confirmed
There is no information on the packaging about port versions or new features specific to the Blackwell architecture. The card’s cooling system features a three-fan setup. We know that this is a design unique to MSI’s Gaming Trio series.
The leaked information confirms that the GeForce RTX 5080 will come with 16 GB of VRAM, a 256-bit bus and ports with three DisplayPort (DP) and one HDMI port. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 is expected to be available on January 21, 2025. Nvidia will release this model before the RTX 5090. Because the RTX 5090, which is expected to have 32 GB GDDR7 VRAM, may overshadow the RTX 5080.
However, the projected $300 price hike for the RTX 5080 could spark a backlash among gamers. The model seems to offer only a minor upgrade compared to previous-generation cards based on Ada Lovelace. Meanwhile, the RTX 5080 will be the first representative of Nvidia’s new Blackwell architecture.
But the price hike and limited technical improvements are rumored that it might not make the expected impact among gamers. That said, we’ll learn more about this new lineup from Nvidia as other models are unveiled at CES 2025.
