As the licensing dispute between Qualcomm and ARM continues, ARM announced that Qualcomm will terminate its license to manufacture processors within 60 days. While Qualcomm’s recently introduced processors such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Snapdragon X Elite are still unknown, the latest leaks suggest that Samsung and Qualcomm may have agreed to use only Snapdragon processors in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 series.
Samsung and Qualcomm may have agreed for Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26
In 2022, Qualcomm acquired technology design company NUVIA from ARM for around $1.4 billion, and ARM sued Qualcomm for breach of contract. Nowadays, Bloomberg claims that ARM has given Qualcomm a 60-day notice to cancel the license that gives Qualcomm the right to design chips based on the ARM architecture. Following this upheaval in the tech world, the latest leaks suggest that Samsung and Qualcomm have reached an agreement for the Galaxy S25 series and the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, and that only Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors will be used in the phones in these series.
The user named @UniverseIce (Ice Universe), who is generally known for his leaks on the X (Twitter) platform, this time makes a post on Weibo, known as China’s social media, stating that Samsung will use its own Exynos processors in its flagship phones starting from Samsung Galaxy S27. In addition, according to leaks, the Exynos processor expected to be used with the Samsung Galaxy S27 is said to be built on a 2nm architecture.
While Qualcomm has not yet made a statement about license cancellation, many people are wondering how this situation will be reflected in Samsung’s new flagship phones and what the prices of the new phones will be. It is known that many of Samsung’s phones use Qualcomm’s entry, mid and high-end processors. Samsung and Qualcomm have not yet made a statement about the agreement.
