Samsung is preparing to enter the smart glasses market. It has been reported that the South Korean tech giant will introduce its first-generation smart glasses, which lack a screen, in 2026. The glasses will come equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker. The device will be used in conjunction with Galaxy phones.
Samsung is designing a new smart glasses
Samsung’s glasses will have a structure similar to the AI-powered models Meta developed with Ray-Ban. This device, which has not yet been unveiled, will allow users to take photos and videos, perform voice commands, and communicate with an AI-based assistant. The glasses will not have a built-in display. All interaction will be facilitated through voice and camera.

It has been reported that the company is working on an independent software platform, not directly connected to the Android operating system, for the development of these glasses. This step is considered a departure from Samsung’s software partnership with Google. A similar distinction has been made in the past with Galaxy smartwatches and phones, where Samsung prioritized its own interface and services.
Meta is currently the market leader in the smart glasses category. The company offers devices developed in collaboration with brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley, starting at $299. Meta’s glasses don’t have a screen, but the next-generation Orion model utilizes augmented reality (AR) display technology. This model can provide visual data in addition to voice commands. Samsung’s first-generation glasses will not include an AR display, but it is anticipated that this feature will be added to future models.
Apple is also expected to introduce its own smart glasses in 2026. Like Samsung, Apple is expected to shift to a screen-free design. This activity in the smart glasses segment indicates that the market will grow further in the next two years.
Samsung’s first screen-free model is believed to be positioned as a transitional product for more advanced augmented reality glasses. The company appears to be making significant preparations to establish a standalone product ecosystem in the smart glasses category.
