Samsung has officially ended software update support for the Galaxy S20 series, which was released in 2020. The Galaxy S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra models will no longer receive security updates.
Samsung has cut update support for the Galaxy S20 series
In previous years, these devices were offered quarterly security updates, but as of March 2025, this support has also been completely terminated. This means that the devices are exposed to more security vulnerabilities.

Although Samsung continues to offer software updates to extend the life of its devices and ensure their security, it cuts off this support after a while. On the other hand, we can say that the situation of the Galaxy S20 FE model is different.
The Galaxy S20 FE, which was released in October 2020, is still included in the quarterly security update program. This means that the device will currently receive security updates every four months.
Samsung is following a different update strategy for its new Galaxy S series phones. The Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra will receive updates up to Android 22. This means that the devices will have up-to-date software support for at least seven years.
Samsung’s decision to end software support for its older models may cause some negative reactions among users. However, we can say that this is a common practice in the technology sector.
