The competition between South Korean tech giant Samsung and the major company Apple for global smartphone supremacy continues at full speed. According to the latest report published by Canalys, Samsung once again secured the top spot in the market. The South Korean tech giant, which has mostly been the leader since 2021, maintained its title as the best-selling smartphone brand with an 18% market share.
Samsung maintains its dominance!
Samsung’s success can be attributed to its broad product range and strategy of producing devices for every budget. The company successfully reaches different consumer groups with both high-end flagship models and mid-range and entry-level devices.
Following Samsung, Apple holds a 16% market share. Samsung’s closest competitor in the Android ecosystem, Xiaomi, secured the third spot with a 15% market share. The fourth place on the list was taken by Chinese manufacturer vivo, with a 9% share. Notably, Xiaomi being just behind Apple on the list is quite significant.
According to Canalys’ report, a total of 288 million smartphones were sold in the second quarter of 2024. This figure indicates a 12% increase compared to the previous period. This rise in sales demonstrates that not only Samsung but all smartphone manufacturers have had a successful year worldwide.
Looking at market dynamics, Samsung’s leadership continued into the first half of 2024. Whether the company can maintain this success will depend on the performance of its competitors and new product launches in the coming periods.
The competition in the smartphone market means more options and innovative features for consumers. Each brand has its own unique strengths and target audiences. For example, while Apple differentiates itself with the iOS ecosystem, Xiaomi stands out with affordable yet powerful devices.
