Samsung has announced the launch date for its first XR headset, “Project Moohan,” developed as a rival to the Apple Vision Pro. Initially available only in the South Korean market, the device is scheduled to launch on October 13th.
Samsung Unveils XR Headset
Project Moohan’s price ranges from 2.5 million to 4 million Korean won. This equates to approximately $1,790 to $2,865 at the current exchange rate. Compared to the Apple Vision Pro’s $3,499 price tag, Samsung’s product is more affordable. This pricing positioned Samsung’s first-generation XR product at a more affordable price point in the market.

Developed in collaboration with Google, the headset features a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, Adreno 740 GPU, 16GB of RAM, and Android XR. Samsung reportedly aims to ship approximately 100,000 units of Project Moohan by 2025. The realistic nature of this target will depend on the market’s response as a new player.
The introduction of this device is expected to intensify competition in the wearable technology market. Samsung is attempting to offset the impact of Apple’s Vision Pro by leveraging its hardware and software expertise. Industry analysts say Samsung’s lower pricing strategy could be a significant step in bringing mixed reality devices to the mainstream.
