Samsung, a major player in the smartphone market, has recently revamped its update policy, offering software support for 6-7 years on its newer models. Unfortunately, older products released in previous years are not included in this extended support. As a result, the company is preparing to phase out a popular model that achieved significant sales success.
Galaxy A52s nearing the end: Now receiving updates every three months
Before completely discontinuing software support, Samsung gradually reduces the frequency of updates for its products. For instance, at the beginning of this year, the Galaxy A52 and A52 5G models were removed from the monthly update program and started receiving security patches every three months.
The same situation now applies to the Galaxy A52s, launched in 2021. From now on, the smartphone will receive security patches every three months instead of monthly. Although it’s not confirmed, it’s expected that software support for this model will end entirely by October 2025.
The final Android and One UI update for the Galaxy A52s was released six months ago. Essentially, the model will continue to run Android 14-based One UI 6 indefinitely.
It’s worth noting that Samsung has introduced seven years of update support for flagship devices starting with the Galaxy S24 series. Models covered under this new policy include:
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24 Plus
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24 FE
- Galaxy Tab S10 Plus
- Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra
