Samsung is preparing to switch to a new battery technology to solve battery problems in smartphones. This new system, which the company will use in its future models, is based on a stainless steel-based design called SUS CAN (Steel Use Stainless).

The new technology has three main advantages: higher energy density, faster charging, and most importantly, a non-swelling battery structure. In particular, the problem of battery swelling that occurs over time is a frequently reported complaint by users. The SUS CAN design aims to structurally eliminate this problem.

Although stainless steel does not dissipate heat as well as aluminum, we can say that it is a much more durable and corrosion-resistant material. In addition, this material stands out with its modular structure that makes battery replacement easier. In this respect, it also complies with the new regulations of the European Union regarding repairability in mobile devices.

It is stated that Apple has also started to use SUS CAN battery technology in the iPhone 16 Pro Max model in a similar way. Samsung’s progress in the same direction will increase the importance of this material in the mobile industry.

However, the company has not yet made an official statement on which phone series it will integrate this technology into first and when it will be available on the market. This innovation on the battery side can be a very suitable solution, especially for high-performance products that consume a lot of power.
