In recent years, with significant advancements in technology, there has been a major leap in the field of artificial intelligence. In this context, the world’s largest companies have revised their investment plans to focus on artificial intelligence.
According to recent developments, Samsung is also preparing to take a significant step forward. It is claimed that Samsung is developing its own AI chip to compete with leading companies like NVIDIA. So, what will this chip offer? Here are all the details…
Samsung rolls up its sleeves for the Mach-1 artificial intelligence chip
According to emerging information, Samsung aims to become the largest producer of artificial intelligence hardware. Accordingly, the company is preparing to enter the industry with an artificial intelligence chip named Mach-1. In this context, it is claimed that the company has opened an Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) laboratory for Mach-1, which will compete with NVIDIA’s Blackwell B200 chip.
There isn’t much detail available about the Mach-1 chip specifically developed for artificial intelligence operations, but it’s certain to attract a lot of attention. As it’s known, one of the biggest challenges in artificial intelligence systems currently is the bottlenecks in data transfer between GPU, CPU, and memory. The Mach-1 chip will have a design that significantly reduces these bottlenecks.
According to the information provided, Samsung Mach-1 is expected to offer a lighter and more flexible artificial intelligence solution by using low-power LPDDR memory instead of high-bandwidth memory (HBM). Additionally, it is said that Samsung will increase power efficiency by up to 8 times using algorithms for the chip.
It is claimed that Samsung will prepare Mach-1 prototypes by the end of 2024 and release them in 2025, which is next year. It is also reported that Samsung has already received an order for Mach-1 from a company. We will see together how Samsung will proceed.
