After Samsung launched the Galaxy S24 series with Snapdragon processors earlier this year, leaks suggest that future Galaxy S series may also come with Snapdragon processors. Recent leaks suggest that Samsung may cancel production of the Exynos 2600 due to production difficulties.
Production difficulties may prevent Samsung from producing the Exynos 2600
The upcoming Exynos 2600 is expected to use Samsung Foundry’s advanced 2 nm processor manufacturing process. However, recent reports indicate that Samsung will have difficulty in producing the Exynos 2600 and may cancel the production of the processor for this reason. A very important detail for the manufacturer during processor production is how many processors they can produce from a single wafer. The latest reports show that the production efficiency for the Exynos 2600 is between 10 percent and 20 percent. Apart from all these reports, Samsung says that it will close its 4 nm, 5 nm and 7 nm processor production facilities, many of which are no longer used with the renewed and developing technology.
It is also known that the company’s semiconductor division, headquartered in South Korea, has reduced its workforce due to the 52-hour work week. At the same time, the company is completely restructuring the application processor (AP) development team. But it is thought that this restructuring process will take years to finish. Analysts think that Samsung may outsource some of its processor production to TSMC to ease the burden, but this may increase processor costs, but in this case Samsung may have to disrupt its competitive pricing policy.
It is known that Samsung Foundry, the world’s second largest chip manufacturer within all these difficulties, is trying to improve the 2 nm production process in order to continue competing with TSMC. Users think that Samsung should continue with Snapdragon 8 Elite and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processors for the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series. However, according to analysts, this situation will cause product prices to rise.
