After the delays of One UI 7, Samsung is considering releasing the One UI 8 update earlier than planned. Reliable source Ice Universe has suggested that Samsung will roll out the new update much earlier than expected. However, it is still unclear exactly when this “early” release will take place.
When will Samsung release the One UI 8 update?
Samsung usually releases major One UI updates between October and December. This year, however, Google plans to release Android 16 earlier than expected, in late June or early July. In this case: Samsung could release One UI 8 at the same time as its new foldable phones (Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7) in the summer.

Or, due to the delayed release of One UI 7, the release of One UI 8 could be pushed back to 2026. The strongest theory at the moment is that One UI 8 could be released around July-August 2025. One UI 7, despite being a major update based on Android 15, was delayed until April 2025.
So Samsung may cancel interim updates like One UI 7.1 altogether and focus directly on One UI 8. However, this could drastically change Samsung’s update schedule. If One UI 8 comes out in the summer, it will be one of the shortest transitions between Android updates. So what are the current odds?
One UI 8 could come sooner than expected, but how stable this update will be is a question mark.
Samsung is likely to release One UI 8 alongside its foldable phones.
If delays continue, the release of One UI 8 could even be pushed back to 2026.
In short, we will see in the coming months whether Samsung can gain momentum with One UI updates. What do you think about this issue? You can write your opinions in the comments section below…
