Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy TriFold phone, which has excited the tech world, at the APEC CEO Summit. This innovative device, which folds twice, transforms into a small tablet when opened.
What is the Galaxy TriFold design like?
According to shared details, the unveiled tri-fold phone features two hinges, unlike standard foldable phones. The device’s aspect ratio is wider horizontally than vertically, making it closer to a “small tablet PC.”
Compared to a standard foldable phone, it appears to have three external screens side by side. This model, which Samsung announced to release before the end of the year, has an external screen of approximately 6.5 inches. This screen size is similar to the Galaxy Fold series.

When the phone is fully opened, a massive 10-inch display comparable to a tablet is revealed. However, the complex hinge structure and additional display components increase the cost. Therefore, the ex-factory price of the device is estimated to be around 3 million won.
The expected initial production volume for Samsung’s new product is around 50,000 to 100,000 units. The device’s launch will be limited to markets like Korea and China, which have shown significant interest in foldable phones. Industry experts state that this move isn’t aimed at mass sales. However, the primary goal is believed to be to emphasize Samsung’s technological prowess and premium image.
A tech industry official said, “As the foldable phone market grows slower, Samsung is trying to showcase its technology by diversifying its product line.” Meanwhile, Huawei, which launched the world’s first tri-fold phone, the Mate XT, in September last year, unveiled its second-generation model, the Mate XTs, on April 4th. Visitors at APEC were only able to see the device through a glass display case; it wasn’t possible to touch or use it.
